Take Heart: Letters of Faith, Hope and Love

Paperback Book, 135 pages

DESCRIPTION:

This unique collection offers letters of encouragement on matters of faith, hope, and love written by young writers for today's youth.

“… In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Echoing Jesus’ words in their individual ways, 14 young writers offer letters of encouragement to their peers. Generously sharing their personal stories of failure, anxiety, pain, and heartbreak, they reach out to those who are struggling through similar experiences with the assurance that they are not alone. From the frustrations of job-hunting as a fresh graduate to the distress of coping with a chronic illness, from the agony of waiting to find the Right One to the grief of losing a loved one, from the burden of providing for a family to the uncertainty of grappling with unanswered prayers, the 30 letters in this book deal with issues most millennials face today. Rooted in the reality of living in a broken world as well as in the unchanging truth found in Scripture, these letters assure readers that God is always with them through good times and bad, that “weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning,” and that with faith, hope, and love, they, too, can take heart and overcome the world.

ABOUT THE WRITERS

Ivy Micah Y. Amurao, or Micah for short, joyfully serves the Lord wherever He leads her—be it teaching in VBS, accompanying family members to their destinations, doing errands for a friend, or lending a listening ear at 12 midnight. Her distant dream is to witness God’s mission works and give love that will lead others to the One who is Love. Her little joys include kids, books, coffee, musicals, and peaceful trips alone.

Rochela P. Bugarin has always been fond of kids, and her heart has found a home in the children’s ministry of her church for the last ten years. She also works as a full-time policy specialist for a local bank. She likes writing short stories, travel, and photography.

Raciele Cabalatungan loves going by her nickname, Bambam. Socially awkward in real life, she has found writing to be her creative outlet. It is her heart’s desire that her written words bring glory to the God who has saved her to the uttermost.

Angelique S. Campos is a millennial mom blessed with two lovely angels. She is a woman whose faith has been forged through fiery trials. At present, she expresses her creativity in the field of marketing and occasionally dabbles in music and the arts.

Anna Dominique L. Gonzaga is a writer and editor based in Manila. She has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Colegio de San Juan de Letran Manila. When she is not writing curriculum or editing manuscripts for work, you would find her buried in her books, writing short fiction stories, or singing and playing music for her Lord and Lover, Jesus Christ.

Mark G. Mirabuenos is the son of a pastor from Calauag, Quezon and an accountant from Plaridel, Bulacan. He plays music, does visual art, and works as a part-time instructor in Bulacan. Reading is his fuel, writing somehow helps him express himself, and observing is his hobby.

Reba Marice S. Oldan, or Yeb to her friends, is an IT professional, calligrapher, layout artist, and writer. She loves Jesus, and she loves to travel to new places, try foods she has never tasted before, and search for cute souvenirs.

Christianne Fayth Ong, also known as Fayth, is a 21-year-old preschool teacher at MGC New Life Christian Academy. A graduate of St. Stephen’s High School and the University of Santo Tomas, she is currently serving in St. Stephen’s Parish as a youth leader. She always had a passion for teaching and writing. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books, listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family.

Janella Joyce Rodelas is more commonly addressed by her nickname, Ella. She has a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Far Eastern University (Manila). Aside from drinking coffee and eating chocolates, Ella loves to write to balance her thoughts and emotions. She hopes that her writing would one day be able to convey the contents of her heart while inspiring others with her life and walk with Jesus.

Jennifer Ang Sun has worked with the youth in St. Stephen’s Parish for almost two decades. After getting married, she moved to Jubilee Evangelical Church, where her husband serves, and volunteered to be among the editorial staff of Voice of Jubilee, the church’s official newsletter. She is a full-time preschool and Mandarin language teacher, who enjoys spending time with kids, the youth, and young professionals, and writing blog posts in whenateacherwrites.wordpress.com and devotional essays during her free time.

Ruzelle D. Tan’s dream of becoming an author led her to work in a publishing company which, to her amazement, has opened many new opportunities for her. She has a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa. The youngest in the family, she still loves going home to her parents in Laguna.

Joyce-Anne Ticsay is a Bible-believing Christian who values relationships and is a content writer by profession. She is a homebody who can also be outgoing at times. Often regarded as reserved, she is actually easy to get along with.

Alea Toledo is a homeschooling student who loves to read and write novels. She also loves reaching out to children and teenagers, and pointing them to Jesus.

Vea Candy Verzosa has been a SPED teacher for four years, a teacher in children’s ministry, and a youth leader in Calendola Refuge Christian Church. Teaching children is her passion. She describes herself as an introvert who uses writing not only as a way of expressing herself, but also sharing her thoughts as well as teaching and inspiring others.
