This book is divided into two parts. The first part provides a biblical foundation and a theoretical background for the strategic planning process while the second part describes in some detail a sequence of steps for pursuing a strategic planning process. Both sections are important, but the material in the first part is important for getting an overall view of the process--what it is, what it intends to achieve, and the benefits for implementing the techniques effectively. A sound knowledge of the biblical and practical principles of strategic planning is the key to successful implementation of planning techniques.

About the Author

Dr. Saffold currently serves as Executive Director of the Associated Canadian Theological Schools in Langley, British Columbia, a consortium of four evangelical theological schools that together function as a graduate theological school of Trinity Western University. An energetic, creative, and collaborative leader, Dr. Saffold has extensive experience in organizational and ministry leadership.

Originally a pastor with the Evangelical Free Church of Canada, Dr. Saffold joined the staff of Trinity Western University in 1978, eventually serving in a number of roles including Dean of Trinity Western Seminary, Executive Vice President of the University, and from 1997 to 2001 as Chief Executive of the ACTS Seminaries.

In 2006, Dr. Saffold joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ, Canada where he serve as Executive Director of Ministries, overseeing the organizations many-faceted ministry operations both in Canada and internationally. Working with the teams there Dr. Saffold contributed to refocusing the organization for more contemporary ministry and changing its name to “Power to Change.”

Dr. Saffold rejoined the work of Trinity Western University in 2014, working on legal and public communication projects before being appointed as Executive Director of the ACTS Seminaries in 2016.

Dr. Saffold holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Seattle University, a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois. He is a published author and serves as Associate Professor at the ACTS Seminaries, teaching in the areas of theological studies and organizational leadership. Dr. Saffold consults and speaks widely. He is currently engaged in a broad-based project in Thailand to support the Thai  National Plan for the Evangelization of Thailand.

Together with Susan, his wife of 43 years, Dr. Saffold has two sons and three grandchildren.
