“Naging masaya po ang lahat sa inyong pagtuturo. Napakalaking tulong po sa aming samahan ang inyong mga aklat dahil sadyang kulang kami sa mga materyal na gagamitin sa pagtuturo. Nagprovide din po kayo sa amin ng mga murang halaga ng libro kaya di na kami mahihirapan sa aming gawain dahil kumpleto ang inyong mga libro, halos nandun na ang lahat ng kailangan sa aming pagtuturo. Kaya maraming maraming salamat CSM! Salamat sa inyong malasakit.”

(Everyone enjoyed this learning opportunity. CSM’s books are a big help to us because teaching materials are not readily available for us. We are grateful that you have made books and teaching resources affordable and accessible for our people. Thank you so much, CSM, for caring and helping us Mangyans!)

—Ms. Gloria Mayot, MTCA-PLP Head

Church Strengthening Ministry, Inc. recently had the opportunity to partner with the Mangyan Tribal Churches Association, Inc. through “Paaralang Lingguhang Pag-aaral: Pagsasanay Ukol sa Malikhaing Pagtuturo” (MTCA-PLP “Training for Creative Teaching”), a training workshop for their church ministry workers and volunteers last April 1, 2023 at SPIEM-MTCA, Bulusan, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

CSM trainers Ms. Niña De Mesa and Ms. Jonalyn Roca encouraged Mangyan church ministry workers to embrace their roles as teachers, emphasizing both passion and skills. Various topics on improving their teaching skillswere discussed, such as how to use games, music, dance, storytelling, and arts in teaching kidsusing CSM’s latest Sunday school material, “Kingdom Seeker.”

Almost 150 participants attended the said event coming from the six different Mangyan tribes, namelythe Iraya, Alangan, Tawbuid, Tadyawan, Buhid, and Hanunuo tribes. It is worth noting that Mangyan tribes have a very rich culture; they are also passionate and hard-working people. In between sessions, each tribe performed a special presentation (in song and/or dance) highlighting their respective dialects.

According to Ms. Mayot, when MTCA announced late last year that CSM will be conducting a training workshop, the Mangyans already started saving for their registration fee and extra money to buy books. It is amazing to see how they value learning and really work hard for it; they have a culture of self-reliance and not depending on freebies.

In turn, CSM provided the Mangyans good value deals and made ministry resources affordable for them. It was such a blessing to see their happy faces as they bought books by the bundle, and as they joined enthusiastically in every activity during the workshop.

At the end of the training workshop, the Mangyans expressed their overflowing gratitude, approaching the CSM team to say “Thank you” and hoping for more training events and books in the near future. The Mangyan church ministry workers’ and volunteers’ passion for teaching the next generation Mangyans and love for learning is truly a great encouragement, a humbling experience, and an affirmation for CSM’s mission to strengthen the Church, equip the saints, and reach mankind. All glory and honor to God, His name be praised!
