Music in Teaching Workshop Teaches 152
Jan 25, 2020
CSM’s second Skills Building workshop for 2020, Music in Teaching drew an attendance of 152 participants from 40 churches last January 25, 2020 at the CSM building in Paranaque. This all-original module for Sunday school teachers was designed and led by CSM trainers Stephen Matthew Felonia and Angela Templonuevo. Aside from loyal CSM workshop attendees and partners such as Marikina Christian Fellowship and Assembly of Family and Friends in Christ (Rizal), many had come to CSM for the first time.
A teacher by profession and a Sunday school teacher in his church, Calvary Foursquare church, Felonia gave practical tips and encouragement in using music to teach children about God and Jesus. According to Felonia, even teachers who are not musically inclined can teach music. If they can sing the most familiar birthday song, if they can download music, or if they can move, they can teach music to children.
Church choreographer Templonuevo, on the other hand, taught participants how to make musical instruments like maracas and castanets out of recycled materials. She also gave tips on how make simple dance steps, one of which is to incorporate American Sign Language (ASL).
The Skills Building: Music in Teaching workshop is CSM’s last training workshop before the Vacation Bible School training season that starts on February 29, 2020.
