Two more webinars this November wrapped up CSM’s online Sunday school workshop series for 2020:“Teaching Bible Lessons with Arts and Crafts” last November 7, 2020 and “Using Music and Motion in Teaching Kids” last November 21, 2020. The series started with “Creative Ways to Tell Bible Stories” last September 26, 2020.

Led by CSM trainers Raquel Lomugdang and Marionne Bianca Reyes, the arts and crafts webinar workshop taught 54 participants how to use arts and crafts as well as group singing and dancing in creating an enjoyable learning experience for kids in an online Sunday school class.

Arts and crafts trainer Lomugdang explains, “Creating crafts helps children unlock their natural creativity and develop essential motor skills. And because children now have to do their crafts at home, it also offers the opportunity for the kids to spend precious time with their parents as they work on a Sunday school project together.”

With Christmas fast approaching, the workshop featured crafts for Advent. Trainer Reyes shared the significance of this oft-forgotten church tradition, “Now, more than ever, we need to remind ourselves and our kids that Jesus is our hope, and we look forward to His return with eager anticipation.”

The third and last Sunday school workshop  taught the 21 participants how to use music and motion in helping children cope with the stresses and isolation from their classmates brought about by the pandemic. For Music and Motion trainer Stephen Felonia, “Music and motion help create a positive learning environment, encouraging the learners to become happier and making learning much easier.”

Along with the rest of the educational community, CSM switched to virtual learning by offering the Online Sunday School Workshop Series to help Sunday school teachers adjust to the so-called new normal of teaching online while keeping true to their mission of discipling children to Christ.  The online series attracted participants from different parts of NCR, the nearby provinces, and as far as Hongkong.

Indeed, in this season of giving gifts, the Online Sunday School Workshop Series reminds teachers about the Greatest Gift of All. “We teach because we want to share Jesus to our children,” Music and Motion trainer Felonia said. “But sometimes, we teachers get too caught up with all the work and preparation that we forget it is the Holy Spirit who sets the agenda. So let’s do our best, but leave the work of changing lives to God.” Up next, a free webinar on how to teach our newest Sunday school curriculum! Watch for it!
